Pelvic floor physiotherapy before or after Prostate surgery
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is useful after prostate surgery to prevent, improve or even completely cure problems with urinary incontinence. Unfortunately up to 70% of men will have problems with urinary leaking / incontinence following this type of surgery.
A supervised, graded pelvic floor exercise programme can significantly help to reduce symptoms.
A recent study has found that it may be beneficial to see a specialist physiotherapist to improve the pelvic floor before having surgery however, this is not possible for everyone and depends on your diagnosis.
